Never has there been a more opportune time to address the architecture of the Eurozone and the stability of the financial sector. A general feeling of paralysis characterizes the debate. How can we move forward? What are the right measures? In this issue of Topics in Corporate Finance the Amsterdam Center for Corporate Finance (ACCF) seeks to contribute to a constructive debate on these fundamental issues.
The first chapter by professor Paul De Grauwe seeks to build an understanding of the sustainability of the Eurozone monetary union. Professor Paul De Grauwe is professor of international economics at the University of Leuven and a leading expert on international and monetary economics. In the second chapter the focus shifts to the financial sector. Arnoud W.A. Boot will analyze the stability of the financial system and particularly the impact of market forces on the choices of individual financial institutions.
This publication aims to build a further understanding on what is needed to rectify the weaknesses in the Eurozone and the financial sector. We hope you enjoy reading it, and that this publication may contribute to bridging the gap between theory and practice.
The Amsterdam Center for Corporate Finance (ACCF)
The ACCF is a think-tank specializing in the financial management of corporations and the operations of the financial sector. They promotes high quality research on the interface between financial theory and corporate policy. With a variety of activities, it provides a forum for dialog between academics and practitioners.
